KENFILT in the bearing industry

Commissioning of two FTD 30 AD TA units at a bearing manufacturing plant of a major Japanese manufacturer in Europe. NAS 5 filtration quality maintained permanently.

In April 2017 KENFILT commissioned two precoat filtration centrals at a new bearing manufacturing plant of a major Japanese manufacturer at one of its European factories.

These two centrals filter a special light oil used for washing the various components that make up the bearings in the final manufacturing processes. They feature a double-skin tank to ensure that no oil spill can occur on the factory floor.

The precoat filtration central type FTD 30 AD TA was designed to filter a flow of 1,600 l/min of special light oil, similar to kerosene, for intermediate washing of components with a filtration quality of 3-5 µm, using cellulose fibres as filter aid.

The precoat filtration central type FTD 30 AD TA + FPLA was designed to filter a flow of 1,600 l/min for the final washing of components during the assembly process, with a filtration quality of 3 µm. It also incorporates a standard FPLA filter with automatic backwash self-cleaning, ensuring that no particle larger than 3 µm reaches the assembly area.

All pumps are vertical with the turbine submerged in the liquid, eliminating any possible oil leakage onto the floor, which is especially important given the very low viscosity of the filtered oil and its low flash point.

Since commissioning, both centrals have operated to the full satisfaction of the customer. Daily filtration quality analyses are permanently maintained at NAS 5, the quality required by bearing manufacturers — far more stringent than NAS 9 for general machining, NAS 8 for grinding or NAS 7 for superfinishing operations.
